Original 1897 lithograph printed in colors on wove paper. Transcribed from a poster advertising Matinee performances at the Folies Bergere. Colorful blue, red, yellow, metallic gold, and black ink.
The image was published in Les Programmes Illustrees des Theatres et des Cafe-Concerts, a collection of artwork documenting theater programs and cafe concerts. The series was published in 1987 by Ernest Maindron; this plate was printed by Imprimerie F. Appel in Paris. The Folies Bergere was a popular revue theater at the edge of Montmartre and was famous for its decorations, costumes, and cabaret performances.

Examined apart from the frame and found to be in excellent condition. Only 1,025 copies of this image was produced. Many have not survived; many others have not survived in good condition.
Framed in gold-leaf frame and finished with off-white linen matting and matching gold fillet. Set behind a UV-resistant acrylic cover. No evidence of prior framing on the sheet.
